Liven up you hair!

So, as this is the last week of our Happy Holiday Hair month, we thought it was important to give you some handy tips for conditioning your hair once your home to turn those sun scorched ends into soft velvet strands!

TIP 1: Pay attention to application.
Always start at your ends and work upwards when conditioning your hair. There isn’t much need for conditioner at the roots, because your scalp will create natural oils up there, adding more moisture will just create grease! A good way to do it is don’t apply anywhere above your chin. It will only weigh down your hair more, and make your hair look greasy sooner.

TIP 2: Comb through.
This is important to make sure the product is reaching all of your hair. Not only is it the easiest way to detangle your hair, but it also helps keep it from tangling after it dries. Conditioner also protects your hair from daily damage. So make sure you comb through. Or even use your fingers!

TIP 3: Let it sit.
Always let your conditioner sit in your hair for a few minutes so it can penetrate the cuticle. The more moisture your hair has, the more damage it can prevent. Rinsing well with cool water will close the cuticle, locking in the conditioner and leaving it glossy for longer.

TIP 4: Consider a mask.

We always suggest that our clients do a mask every few weeks. It’s a more intense conditioning treatment that keeps your hair the healthiest. This is especially important if you heat style or chemically treat your hair. Your can buy your own mask from us and do it yourself every two or three weeks, or you can pop into the salon for a treatment once in a while. These usually sit on your hair for about 10-20 minutes. (Bbut can really they can be left on as long as you want when your at home!) Masks are definitely too heavy to use every time you condition, so investing in a good mask will be worth it since it will last you so long. However, we have heard of a couple of home made remedies which are meant to be just as good for your hair!

 Lemon-Honey Conditioner

*Mix ½ teaspoon honey,juice of 1 lemon in some water and wash the hair.Then rinse with clear water.

*Apply conditioner to hair after each hair wash.

*Precaution should be taken that the conditioner does not touch the scalp. the conditioner should be applied on hair & hair tips.

*For extra shine rinse the hair with vinegar.

Egg Conditioner Recipe

* 4 teaspoon baby oil
* 2 egg yolk
* 2 cup water

  *Beat the egg yolk until its frothy, add the oil then beat again. Add to the water. Massage into the scalp and throughout your hair. Rinse well.

Egg and Olive Oil hair mask

But if you don’t fancy the idea of coating your hair in egg or honey..

Our hero product here at Blaze is Clynols Recharge mask, it is a super lightweight formula which boosts vitality, strengthens the hair structure and enhances shine without overburdening or weighing the hair down! Perfect for anyone! ( And a LOT more comfortable than having egg in your hair!)

Picture Perfect

Holidays are meant to be the time when we are at our most relaxed and beautiful. Unfortunately, that fresh holiday glow doesn’t always show itself in our photo albums when we are trying to show off to our friends back home.

We have put together a few tips, to make sure you look picture perfect and get the best snap possible!

The common hair mistakes we make when travelling are exposing hair to sea salt and UVA, which dry out the hair and leave it feeling and looking like straw. When we pose for shots in bright sunshine or at restaurants at night, we fall victim to a very unflattering device – the flash. But anyone can look as hot as they feel in their snaps with a few simple changes.

For a great catwalk look day & night, Brett suggests a braid as the up do from the day which can carry on through to the night. When you take out the braid it leaves a great red carpet wave with great movement for your evening glamour.

Start with a simple braid around the head…

 And then all you have to do to glam yourself up it let the braid down and tease the hair into postition to look as beautiful as this….

(And a few tips when your taking those holiday snaps!)….

• MOVE IT: Shoot the person from different angles. A click of the centre, left and right gives a surprisingly different image and choice.

• LET IT MOVE: Avoid overuse of product in the hair, it’ll look more attractive and naturally beautiful with some movement.

• SUNSETS ARE SEXY: Dusk offers a very flattering light for the face, refreshed, rested and back lit.

• GET FLASH RULES RIGHT – OFF AT NIGHT, ON IN THE DAY (YES THAT’S RIGHT): Flash indoors produces harsh, cold light and is the most common cause of unattractive red eye– it feels wrong, but switch it off. Similarly, daytime outdoors is where the flash is your friend, eliminating shadows and diluting the contrasts that create unattractive facial shadows.

And heres a quick checklist when packing to ensure that bad hair doesn’t ruin those well-planned holiday outfit choices:

• A wide toothed comb

• A great shampoo and conditioner with a strong UVA component (don’t rely on the hotel freebies!!)

• An oil to combat a drying atmosphere (speak to anyone in salon about the right product for you!)

• A cool Alice band – simple but a suprisingly dramatic look changer

• A scarf – covers a multitude of sea, sun and sand sins with a touch of old school glamour.
